SWS: Standup For Women In Society Inaugurates The Bayelsa State Chapter

A non-governmental organization, Standup for Women in Society (SWS) has inaugurated the Bayelsa State Chapter executive to handle its affairs for two years.

The executive members are Eunice Nnachi, Chairperson, Janet Renner Assistant Chairperson, Trinya Siya, Secretary, Esther Olowu, Assistant Secretary and Grace Orumieyefa, Treasurer.

Others are Patience Nicks, Financial Secretary, Yikarebogha Ebidisabofa, Organizing Secretary, Timi Ogbise, Assistant Organizing Secretary, Ewa Luckybau, Welfare officer and Peregborobofa Angese-Engonanabo, Assistant welfare officer.

Inaingo Tobi-West is Women Leader, Eselemo Layefa, Public Relations Officer, Carol Siasia, Assistant PRO, Victoria Feboke, Health Officer, Beatrice Sikpi, Chief Whip and Tekinyo Theophilus Local Government Coordinator.

Speaking at the event at NUJ Press Center Ekeki Yenagoa, Commissioner for Women, Children Affairs and Social Development, Ms Faith Opuene, represented by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Ayi Ujile assured that the ministry’s doors are open to render any form of assistance to women so they can be at the limelight in society.

SWS National President, Mrs.   Deborah Ijodele-Adetona explained that the association is poised to bringing women together to speak with one voice, supporting them to succeed in their endeavours as well as promote capacity development and economic empowerment for female folks.

Mrs Ijodele-Adetona also urged women to accord the men respect that is due them in the society even as their right is being protected.

While appreciating the National President for the visit to Bayelsa State, SWS South-South Coordinator, Comrade Timinepre Idoko charged the new executive to be up and doing and ensure the NGO succeeds in the State.

In her address, Chairperson, SWS Bayelsa State Chapter, Eunice Nnachi promised to work with her team to ensure the place of women in society is upheld.
