Army Chief orders new equipment to fight terrorists

Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has restated Nigerian Army’s commitment to provide a peaceful atmosphere for the conduct of next year`s general elections.

General Yahaya to this end said deployment of hi-tech equipment acquired for the Armed forces has been directed by the federal government to crush terrorists and bandits operating in the country.

While declaring the third quarter Chief of Army Staff conference in Abuja open, he also directed the distribution of the reviewed rules of engagement and code of conduct for Operation Safe Conduct to officers and soldiers involved in election duties.

General Yahaya noted that Army operations are yielding desired results and pledged to inject more manpower as well as game changing equipment into theatres of operations.
