Azikel Group donates bags of rice to Bayelsans, non-Bayelsans

In fulfillment of his pledge to alleviate the hardship, pains and losses suffered by flood victims in Bayelsa state, President Azikel Group Dr. AzibapuEruani, has handed over 40 thousand mini bags of rice for onward delivery to Bayelsans and non-Bayelsans impacted by the flood.

The items was received by Commissioner for Environment, Mr. IselemaGbaranbiriwho representedGovernor DouyeDiriin a ceremony held at the Azikel Group operational Base, Swali Yenagoa.

President Azikel Group Dr.Eruani,who said, few weeks back the state suffered the worst devastation caused by the ravaging flood, as means of livelihood were all submerged under water, added that, the 2012 flood cannot be compared to this year’s flood that made the state inaccessible on both the Bayelsa and Delta State flanks sequel to destruction of private properties and road infrastructure.

The Bayelsa Industrialist averred that having purchased the rice, the challenge of bringing the rice to Bayelsa was difficult as all roads were cut off by the flood, but has delivered forty thousand of mini bags packed in ten kilogram because of its commitment.

He called for accountable distribution of the food items to Bayelsans to keep their hope for tomorrow alive.

Recalling the unimaginable destruction of private properties and road infrastructure, Dr. Eruanistated that as the water recede, the challenge of the post flood is acute hunger, hence theAzikel Group and its subsidiaries in Power, Aviation, Dredging and Petroleum decided to stand with impacted families and the state government at this time.

He submitted that both human lives and road infrastructure destroyed by the high tide flood can be contain by massive shore protection of  communities and desilting to open blocked canals and water channels in the state.

In a remark, the Governor’s representative, Mr. IselemaGbaranbiri on behalf of the task force on flood mitigation and people of the state, thanked Dr. Eruani who had earlier presented mattresses to IDPs camps, in furtherance of the pledge, and assured that it will be delivered to the warehouse for onward delivery to the people.
