Bayelsa Assembly approves review, recover of unpaid revenues

Bayelsa State House of Assembly has approved a request from Governor, Douye Diri to engage a consultant to review, reconcile and recover unpaid revenues due the state from the federation’s account.

This according to the request is from nineteen ninety-nine to two thousand and two, over unremitted thirteen percent derivation due the state on account of cash calls and domestic crude sales, condescends amongst others.

By this approval, Commissioner for Finance is authorized to reconcile and negotiate the amount, fee, rate, tenor, lien or discount, on monies due the State with respect to recoveries from the unremitted thirteen percent derivation on account of cash calls and domestic crude sales as well as condescends.

It also authorizes the direct deduction of the amount due the Consultant by relevant Federal Agencies such as Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, office of the Accountant General of the Federation and Bank based on the percentage agreed with the Consultants from any amount recovered at the point of payment.

In another development, the House has approved the restructuring of the twenty-twenty-two budget sent to the House by Governor Douye Diri.

The Governor had explained in a request that the flood and other demand, within the fiscal year, have made it expedient for the budget to be restructured.
