Bayelsa deputy Governor highlights importance of thanksgiving

It was thanksgiving galore as the leadership and people of Ofoni Federated Communities in Sagbama Local Government Area, turned out in their numbers to appreciate God for His manifold blessings on them in the outgone year.

Led by the Amananaowei, Chief Auditor Onakpohor, the people expressed their thanks in songs, dancing and offerings at the grand finale of the 10th Ofoni Annual Solemn Assembly and Thanksgiving Service.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, noted that thanksgiving remains his only source of strength and victory from every battle he had ever encountered in life.

Commenting on the programme, Senator Ewhrudjakpo, noted that the annual Ofoni Thanksgiving Day provides the people a unique opportunity to renew their spiritual strength and commitment to God.

He described this year’s edition as symbolic, expressing hope that the prayers offered would not only pull down strongholds but also usher in a new level of success and breakthroughs.

In his sermon titled, “You Are My Battle Axe”, Venerable Abraham Agberhe of the Anglican Communion, emphasized the need for Christians to build themselves spiritually as the times are evil.

Venerable Agberhe, said God is still using those who truly believe i Him to destroy strong and mighty satanic forces in communities and nations across the world.”

The service had in attendance, Wife of the Deputy Governor Mrs. Beatrice Ewhrudjakpo, and the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Solomon Agwanana.

Highlights of the service included thanksgiving by different families and groups as well as special prayers for the Deputy Governor and his family by Reverend Ebitimi Weigha of Christ Chambers Church, Koroama-Gbarain.
