Bayelsa Flood Mitigation Committee distributes relief materials to private IDP camps

Bayelsa State Taskforce on Flood Management and Mitigation Committee has commenced distribution of relief materials to over ten private internally displaced persons camps including People with Disabilities camp and NUJ,  Ernest Ikoli Press Center Ekeki, Yenagoa due to the devastating flood.

Items distributed include bags of fifty kilograms of rice , one hundred kilograms of beans and garri, cartons of tin tomatoes, Noodles, two gallons of palm oil and a bag of onions.

Similarly, the Physically Challenged persons got ten bags of rice, beans, garri, five cartoons of noodles and tin tomatoes as well as five gallons of oil and two bags of onions.

In an interview, Chairman of the State Taskforce on Flood Management and Mitigation Committee, Mr. Iselema Gbaranbiri said the presentation was sanctioned by Governor Douye Diri to ameliorate the sufferings of the people.

Mr. Gbaranbiri who also assured them of medical services such as drugs and mosquito treated nets, said government will always stand by them at critical moments.

Responding, Chairman Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities Bayelsa State Chapter, Mr Eric Ikilowei, appreciated Governor Diri for coming to their aid and for the appointment of thirteen of his members as  Special Advisers and promised that he will ensure every matter is resolved amicably.

At the Ernest Ikoli Press Center Ekeki Yenagoa, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Bayelsa State Council, Comrade Samuel Numonengi, received the palliatives on behalf of journalists and commended government for recognizing and ensuring that NUJ members benefit from the relief materials.
