Bayelsa government attention drawn to illegal collection of development fees

Falouughi has drawn the attention of Bayelsa state government to the illegal
collection of development fees by youths and different associations in Onopa,
Amarata, Famgbe, and Yenezue gene communities.

In a statement by the director, the communities were former landlords of the
area designated for the new Yenagoa city GRA layout across the Epie creek,
bounded by the Tombia River behind government house.

The statement call on the leadership of the aforementioned communities and
other relevant bodies such as IYC, Oguan Youth Association, bush security
network and any other persons as well as CDC, youth executives and
paramount rulers that, the designated area has been fully acquired by the
government and compensation paid.

It also said government has declared those areas as government reserved
areas to be developed, monitored, controlled and supervised by the new
Yenagoa city development agency an organ of government established for
that purpose.

According to the statement, any person or group of persons parading
themselves in the name of the above mention bodies should desist forthwith
from the illegal collection of fees or prepare to face wrath of the law.
