Bayelsa Government Commence Free Medical Outreach In Communities

Bayelsa State Government has commenced a Free Medical Outreach across the State. as part of measures to assuage the sufferings of flood victims and to improve on their health status

Over eight hundred persons have so far benefitted in the Prosperity Free Medical Outreach that has been hosted in Elemebiri and Okumbiri communities of Sagbama Local Government Area of the State.

In Elemebiri, the people of Asamabiri came to join them, same for Okumbiri where people from Eriama, Toru-Ebeni and Amatolo also benefited from the free medical outreach.

The prosperity free medical outreach covered free sugar level test, Blood Pressure test, malaria test, HIV test and eye test with an accompanying free glasses, drugs, and other medical helps.

Speaking shortly after the exercise at Okumbiri, the Programme Coordinator, Dr. Oweilade Liverpool, said he felt elated with the turnout, saying that prosperity is all about making sure that every Bayelsan is healthy.

At Elemebiri, Dr. Liverpool, said Governor Douye Diri was taking the initiative to ensure that the state remain healthy for better productivity and prosperity.

Dr. Liverpool, who said the programme  was aimed at amelorating the sufferings of flood victims in the rural areas, assured that it would equally cover more riverine areas.

On his part, Chairman, Elemebiri Community Development Committee, Mr. Lawrence Nimifa, who described the programme as apt, thanked the Governor for giving them a sense of belonging.

Mr. Nimifa, also applauded the prosperity administration for being proactive by bringing healthcare program to their community and pledged their total support to the prosperity government.
