Bayelsa Queens set to defend NWFL title as team ready for ..

Ahead of the 2023/24 NWFL Premiership season, Management of Bayelsa Queens football club has taken a proactive measure to get optimal performance next season by elevating some Bayelsa State born Coaches in the team.

They are Ogbodan Kingdom, who is now the Chief Coach, while Ebiere Wealth Okoh, both from Ekeremor LGA is the Assistant Chief Coach of the Prosperity Girls.

Speaking to journalists in Yenagoa, Chairman Bayelsa Queens Football Club, Pastor Robin Apreala said the elevation became necessary because both coaches have proven track records.

Similarly, Pastor Apreala said Bayelsa Queens Football Club now have a “Feeders team” known as the ‘BayelsaPrincesses’ mainly for Bayelsans and aimed at encouraging the girl child.

According to him,training days for the Princesses are Wednesdays and Fridays by four 0’clock in the evening at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex and urged interested Bayelsa girls to take advantage of the opportunity.

The feeders team has SeiyefaTebelaas Head Coach, IzoughaAkrenAssistant head coach, while Beredugo Damini is the Goalkeeper Coach.

Pastor Apreala, said Management has also proposed a competition known as the Queens Cup, to be played amongst the players in the team,to be shared into four groups.

According to Apreala, the essence of the Queens Cup is to keep the players in shape for the forth coming 2023/24 NWFL Premiership season.

Pastor Robin Apreala said Management of the team has also agreed to introduce skills acquisition in the team, where players will not only concentrate on playing football but also learn a trade to be self reliant.

The sports administrator thanked the Governor Douye Diri, his deputy Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo and Commissioner for Sports Dr Daniel Igali for their support to the team expressing the hope that Bayelsa Queens will win both the NWFL title and the NFF/TINGO Federation Cup
