Relief material of over three hundred million naira has been received by the Bayela State Government from the ministry of Niger Delta Affairs to ameliorate the effects of the twenty, twenty-two monstrous floods.
The relief materials have been handed over to the state government by the permanent secretary of the ministry of Niger Delta Affairs Mr. Olufunso Adebiyi at the state emergency Management agency’s warehouse located at the Bayelsa Palm estate Elebele.
The permanent secretary who was represented by the director of economic empowerment Mr. Philip Ndiomu.
The materials grouped into four categories includes social relief care packs, nutritional packs, livelihood items and building materials.
According to Mr. Ndiomu the livelihood items are chosen to assist those whose businesses have been destroyed by the flood prompted the ministry of Niger Delta Affairs to supply livelihood enhancing materials like Grinding machines, sewing machines, hair clippers and other equipments.
While receiving the relief materials on behalf of the state government, the chairman Bayelsa State emergency Management committee (SEMA) Mr. Walamam Igrubia thanked the ministry of Niger Delta Affairs for providing the relief materials to alleviate the pain experienced by the people of Bayelsa State.
Mr. Igrubia also added that the remaining consignments slated for Bayelsa state should be supplied.
Highlight of the ceremony is the inspection of the materials in the warehouse by officials of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, National Emergency Management Agency and it’s Bayelsa state counterpart SEMA and other senior government officials.
