Bayelsa State Local Government Service Commission

The need for continuous training and retraining of health workers of the local government system has been emphasized.

This was the submission of stakeholders at a two- day workshop in Yenagoa, organized for public health workers by Bayelsa State Local Government Service Commission in conjunction with Alphakeys Consult.

Chairman, Bayelsa State Local Government Service Commission, Chief Lambert Ototo in a remark, reaffirmed the Commission’s determination to impact staff with requisite knowledge to be at par with modern trend.

Also, Commissioner in charge of Training, Mr. Carter Cleopas and Permanent Secretary, Reverend Amokiese Godwin expressed satisfaction that the Commission was able to conduct its first training for health workers.

Responding, a participant and staff of Ogbia Primary Healthcare and Environmental Sanitation Officer, Beauty Okirinya thanked the Commission for deeming it necessary to train them like other staff of the unified Local Government System.

Retired Permanent Secretary of  Bayelsa State Civil Service, Prince John Egbe and retired Deputy Director, Environmental Health, Ministry of Health, Chief Gilbert Mein  presented lectures on Roles and Responsibilities of Health officers, Introduction to the Environment and Your Health, Environmental Diseases and Control and Enforcement of Environmental Sanitation Bye-laws.
