Following warnings by the National Emergency Management Agency of an impending flood this year which may either be like that of twenty-twelve or worse, some residents of Yenagoa have expressed mixed feelings concerning the flood.
Speaking with some interns serving with Radio Bayelsa, a resident, Miss Dominion Merit and Mr Kemepador Ado, expressed readiness as they both live in a flood free environment and advised those living in flood prone areas to be prepared by storing up food items and move their properties to a safe place.
Another resident at Tombia/Amassoma road, who preferred anonymity, said he is looking for a new apartment or an uncompleted building as his area is often affected by flood.
Another respondent, Mr. Jombu Onu, said he was not aware that there would be flood and expressed confidence that God will not allow it happen, while Mrs. Monica Atah said she would not leave her house even if there is flood because of her past experience of thieves who invaded her farm in her absence.
They appealed to the State government and other spirited individuals to make arrangements for shelter, drugs and other amenities to reduce the conditions of those who might be affected.
The respondents also advised citizens to be proactive by buying necessary items if the flood eventually comes.
