Death Toll In Ecuador Prison Fight Surges

At least one hundred and sixteen people have died in a fight between rival gangs in Ecuador’s jail making it the worst prison violence in the country’s history.

At least five inmates were decapitated in clashes in the city of Guayaquil, while others were shot dead.

Police commander Fausto Buenaño said the prisoners also threw grenades.

It took four hundred police officers to regain control of the jail, which houses inmates linked to global drug gangs.
