The Federal Government says the inauguration of President-Elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President-Elect, Kashim Shettima on May twenty-ninth remains sacrosanct as the schedule of events for the inauguration is released.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, said this when he addressed a World News Conference to kick-start the inauguration activities in Abuja.
Mustapha, who is also the Chairman of Presidential Transition Council, PTC, said the ongoing litigation at the presidential election tribunal would not affect the swearing-in of the president-elect and the vice-president-elect.
He said the nineteen ninety-nine Constitution and the Electoral Act made adequate provision on how to go about litigations arising from elections.
The PTC Chairman said the President-Elect will be conferred with the highest national honour of Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR) on May twenty-fifth ahead of his May twenty-nine inauguration.
Mustapha assured Nigerians and the global community of President Muhammadu Buhari’s commitment to the seamless transfer of power to Tinubu as the sixteenth President of Nigeria.
He stated that President Buhari has directed all relevant government institutions to cooperate and support the transition process through engagement with the president-elect’s team.
Mustapha said all the events will be broadcast live on all major stations and streamed on various social media platforms.
The Transition Council Chairman added that invited presidents, heads of governments and head of international organisations have confirmed their attendance to grace the events.
