FG accuses smugglers for fuel scarcity

Federal Government has broken its silence on the persistent scarcity of
Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, blaming the development

on cross-border smuggling of PMS from Nigeria to neighbouring
countries.
It also announced that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company
Limited had enough petrol, to the tune of one point six billion litres,
amidst the widespread scarcity and queues nationwide
The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory
Authority which disclosed this on Friday, reassured that there is PMS
sufficiency of over one point six billion litres as of twenty-sixth of
January,both on land and marine.”

It said in a statement issued in Abuja that NNPC had additionally made
commitment to supply more volume of PMS for the months ahead to
guarantee national energy security and nationwide availability at the
government regulated price.
