Flooding: Bayelsa State Government receives more relief materials.

Bayelsa State government has received more relief items including 600  bags of rice, 30 bags of beans, 60 bags of garri, 500 cartoons of noddles and 60 gallons of oil among others from a nongovernmental organization Tompolo’s Foundation to support affected flood victims.

The donation was made by Tompolo Foundation, owned by former Niger Delta Agitator, Chief Government Ekpemupolo popularly known as Tompolo.

Receiving the food items in Yenagoa on behalf of Governor Douye Diri, Chairman Bayelsa State Taskforce on Flood Management and Mitigation Committee, Mr. Iselema Gbaranbiri, expressed delight that one of Bayelsa’s kinsmen came to empathize with the citizens following effects of the devastating flood.

Mr Gbaranbiri who appreciated Chief Ekpemupolo for letting Bayelsans know they are not standing alone during the trying moments, assured that just as the committee made judicious use of the 900 million naira released by government to procure relief materials, the food items will be evenly distributed regardless of party affiliation.

Earlier, Chief Government Ekpemupolo represented by member representing Southern Ijaw Constituency Four in Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Chief McDonald Igbadiwei, said the gesture was to show that he shared in the pains of Governor Diri and the people due to the unprecedented flood.

Chief Ekpemupolo commended the Governor for going as far as providing flood Displaced People’s Camp, food, water and other materials to give succour to the people.

He also explained that a total of 150 million naira was used to procure the food items for victims in Bayelsa, Delta and some part of Rivers State.
