Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri has appreciated those who supported the state as it grapples with the floods.
Governor Diri, who spoke during the weekly State Executive Council meeting in Government House, Yenagoa, said the support received has helped the state in its recovery process and assured the funds and items received will be published in line with the transparent posture of his administration.
The Governor expressed appreciation to the Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, for visiting and making a pledge to support victims of the flood.
He also thanked former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who is also the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate for the empathy shown to people of the state and donation of #55,000 000 to flood victims.
Similarly, Governor Diri lauded his Akwa-Ibom State counterpart, Governor Udom Emmanuel, who visited one of the internally displaced persons camp at Igbogene with members of his cabinet and donated #100,000 000 on behalf his state government.
The State helmsman equally appreciated a Bayelsa industrialist, Dr. Azibapu Eruani, who pledged food items worth #350,000 000 during his visit to victims of the flood.
Governor Diri also read a letter from his Lagos State counterpart, Babajide Sanwo-Olu commiserating with the state and donated #50,000 000 to tackle the flood.
He equally thanked the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Oladayo Amao, for the support by the Nigerian Air Force to airlift some items bought by Bayelsa State Government from Abuja to PH and to Yenagoa because the road into the state has been cut off.
