Governor Diri Reaffirms Plans to Deliver Dividends of Democracy

Governor Douye Diri has assured Bayelsans of his mandate to deliver the dividends within the limits of available resources.

Governor Diri gave the assurance on the sidelines of a state-wide broadcast on October first to mark the twenty-sixth anniversary of Bayelsa State creation and Nigeria sixty-second Independence Day celebrations.

He appreciated Bayelsans for their support and confidence to his administration in the two years and eight months in office, noting that without their open criticisms and contributions to governance, the state would be at stalemate.

The Governor said his government is open to more suggestions from the citizenry to place Bayelsa in the comity of states.

The State Chief Executive recalled with nostalgia the feeling that greeted the creation of Bayelsa as the sole homogenous Ijaw state on October one in nineteen ninety-six and charged residents to synergize with the government to achieve a shared prosperity.

Citing numerous road projects across the three senatorial districts to open up the state towards speedy development, Governor Diri charged everyone to toe the path of peace especially the political class as campaigns for next year’s general elections kicks off.

He also advocated a paradigm shift from hate speeches to that of love, unity and togetherness as his prosperity administration has been on the vanguard for peace and harmony.

While acknowledging that Bayelsa at twenty-six is still a work-in-progress, Governor Diri said his administration is on the right track with renewed zeal to take the people of Bayelsa to her promise land.
