Governor Diri warns against sabotage of Nembe-Brass Road Project

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri has warned those whose specialties are to sabotage the progress of the state, to steer clear from the newly approved Nembe/Brass road project, awarded by the state government.

Governor Diri, handed down the warning at an emergency State Executive Council meeting at the EXCO Chambers, in Government House Yenagoa.

The governor noted that from intelligent reports, it has come to government’s notice that some youths from Nembe and Brass Local Government Areas, are planning to be an impediment by way of kidnapping and other activities he termed as “enemies of development”

The governor called on leaders and youths of the two local governments to see the project as their own and take it upon themselves to defend what is theirs.

Governor Diri, while expressing his administration’s commitment to the takeoff of the Nembe/Brass road, asserted that if the people of the area reject the project, government would relocate it but expressed optimism that they would do what is right.

Senator Diri, made it known that after due process in awarding the contract to Setraco Construction company, his government is finalizing the processes of payment in order for the project to takeoff.

The state helmsman reiterated that the even spread of projects which is being witnessed and accepted by the people Bayelsa West and Central senatorial district, must be replicated by the people of the East senatorial district, particularly in Nembe and Brass Local Government Areas.

He stressed that government took the bull by the horns to award the project because it is not unaware of the sufferings the people of the two local government areas are passing through in the hands of sea pirates.
