Operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission have discovered two hundred and fifty-eight million Naira stashed in the vault at one of the bank headquarters in Abuja.
The discovery was during one of the commission’s operations to ensure that commercial banks obey the Central Bank of Nigeria on the distribution of new naira notes to customers.
Spokesperson for the anti-graft agency, Mrs. Azuka Ogugua,who indicated this in a statement obtained by newsmen said, both the regional and service managers were arrested and later granted administrative bail while investigation continues.
Meanwhile the commission reported of visiting more banks and ensuring those withholding cash from customers are punished.
