INEC assures Corps members of increased allowance

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members participating in the 2023 elections of safety and an increase in allowance.

The newly appointed NYSC Director-General, Brigadier-General Yushau Ahmed confirmed the increment of the corps members’ allowance ahead of the polls.

Speaking when he received the NYSC management at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja, INEC chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu noted that the Commission cannot conduct elections without the involvement of NYSC.

On the issue of security, Professor Yakubu said the Commission has been working over the years with the security agencies to provide security protection to corps members and assured that there will be security during deployment and elections.

The management of NYSC had earlier called for the review of allowances being paid to corps members during elections.
