INEC restricts RECs from visiting government houses.

As the General elections draws closer, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has prohibited Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) from paying visits to government houses and meeting politicians in their States of assignments.

INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, who gave the order in his remarks at the swearing-in ceremony of nineteen RECs in Abuja, charged the electoral officials to be responsible. Professor Yakubu also reiterated his commitment to ensure free and fair elections in the next year polls, pledging that the commission will not disappoint Nigerians.

While directing the RECs on their responsibility ahead of the election, the INEC chairman urged them to abide by the law and regulations of the commission.
