Kenyan closes school ahead of general elections next week.

Kenyan’s Education Minister, Professor George Magoha has announced the abrupt closure of schools from today ahead of the country’s general elections next week.

The announcement reportedly caught many schools and parents by surprise, as some learners were already sitting mid-term exams.

Schools were initially scheduled to go for half-term break this Friday, but the |Education Minister ordered the closure a week early with classes to resume on the eleventh of this month.

Reports say the current educational calendar has been affected by the pandemic that led to closure of schools for more than a year in addition to many public schools being used as polling stations during elections in Kenya.
