Local Government Service Commission Chairman urges Staff to shun corrupt practices

Chairman, Bayelsa State Local Government Service Commission, Chief Lambert Ototo has said to boost Internally Generated Revenue, revenue staff of the local government Councils must resist corrupt practices capable of defrauding the system.
Chief Ototo stated this at a two day workshop organized by the Commission in conjunction with Alpha Key Consult in Yenagoa for Revenue staff.
While imploring the staff to be strategic in meeting set goals, the chairman noted that only commitment to duty can improve the IGR in the local government areas.

Earlier, Commissioner in charge of Training in the Commission, Mr. Cleopas Carter, said training and retraining of revenue staff became necessary to keep them abreast with information that will enhance job performance.

Highlighting the core mandate of the Commission which is training, the Permanent Secretary, Reverend Amokiese Godwin, explained that revenue generation makes fund available for the councils, hence the need to enlighten workers.

Responding on behalf of participants, Mrs. Blessing Duanyo from Nembe LGA and her counterpart from Brass LGA, Mr. Thompson Inowei, described the training as enlightening which has put them in the right stead as revenue officers.
