Governor Douye Diri has presented a budget of N310.7 billion for 2022 to the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.
Governor Diri while giving a breakdown of the budget tagged “Budget of Sustainable Growth” explained that the capital expenditure gulped N110.9 billion, personal cost N67.4 billion and the running cost is N70.5 billion.
He also said the budget which is N19 billion lower than that of 2021 is expected to stimulate the State on the path of sustainable development.
The Governor while enumerating the achievements of the 2021 budget stated that government has secured full accreditation of almost all the programmes in the higher institutions and mentioned a number of ongoing projects, with some at advance stages of completion.
Governor Diri appealed for expeditious passage of the budget for implementation to commence January next year.
Responding to the budget speech, Speaker of the House, Mr. Abraham Ingobere appreciated the Governor for his achievements and assured him of the speedy passage of the budget.
Details of the budget break down indicate Ministry of Works and Infrastructure gulping N51 billion, Agriculture N12 billion, Education, health N4 billion each, Information and power received N1.5 billion each.
Ministries of Trade, Industry and Investment, Communication Science and Technology, Culture and Tourism, Budget-Economic Planning, Youth and Sports got N5 million each.
