NUJ, BAYELSA STATE COUNCIL HAS ASSURED PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UNIPORT ALUMNI ASSOCIATION, BAYELSA STATE CHAPTER

Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bayelsa State Council has assured partnership with the University of Port Harcourt Alumni Association, Bayelsa State Chapter.

Chairman, NUJ Bayelsa State Council, Comrade Samuel Numonengi stated this when the leadership of the Alumni, Bayelsa State Chapter paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Ernest Ikoli Press Centre, Yenagoa.

Comrade Numonengi who underscored the need to publicize activities of the association through the media said most members who hitherto are not active would be aware of such programmes and participate.

On the issue of building a Secretariat for the Alumni in the state, the NUJ Chairman advised the leadership of the Association to organize a fund raising programme and appeal to prominent members to assist.

He used the medium to congratulate the immediate past President of the UNIPORT Alumni Association, Bayelsa State Chapter, Mr. Edmond Dagogo for emerging victorious as National Secretary of the Alumni during the last elections.

He also extended his congratulations to the new Executive of the Association in the state for their victory at the state elections and thanked them for being good ambassadors of the Alumni Association.

Earlier, President, UNIPORT Alumni Association, Bayelsa State Chapter, Chief Loveday Anengimo who led the delegation had said their visit to the NUJ Chairman was to introduce the new leadership of the Alumni and appealed to the chairman for support.

Chief Anengimo thanked the leadership of Bayelsa State NUJ for availing the NUJ Hall to the Alumni for use.

Chief Loveday who decried the low participation of members during activities of the association in the state, urged them to identify with the Alumni.
On his part, the National Secretary of UNIPORT Alumni Association, Mr. Edmond Dagogo pleaded with NUJ to extend its cooperation to the president.
