Nigerian Navy to unveil Ondo-Lagos navigational chart, others.

Nigerian Navy is set to unveil seven newly produced navigational
charts linking Ondo to Lagos States through River Alape.
In March, the service unveiled twenty charts, bringing the charts in
the country to twenty-seven.

It reports that a navigational chart is a map that provides information
about water depths, dangerous locations, among others.
Speaking during a press briefing in Abuja, Chief of the Naval Staff,
Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo, said the charts would be unveiled
Wednesday next week at an event to commemorate World
Hydrography Day.

Vice Admiral Gambo, who was represented by the Chief of Policy
and Plans, Rear Admiral Saidu Garba, lamented that marine litters,
among others, were threatening sustainable use of the ocean in
Nigeria.

The Hydrographer of the Federation, Rear Admiral Chukwuemeka
Okafor, said the chart for the new Calabar River was almost ready,
adding that Imo State would be able to access the sea after the survey
had been completed.
