Collins Obi of Team Bayelsa has set a new national record in long distance swimming.

Obi struck gold after clocking the time of 1:57.76 seconds in the 200 meters men’s freestyle competition at the ongoing 21st National Sports Festival (NSF) tagged Delta 2022.

His feat surpassed the 1:59:20 seconds record created by Sam Opuakpo of Delta in 2013.

Team Bayelsa has had a spectacular outing so far in the swimming event winning four gold medals so far, out of the seven up for grabs.
