President Muhammadu Buhari says with the conduct and non-interference in the February twenty-fifth and March eleven general election, Nigerians have proved to be capable of deciding who leads them without anyone telling them what to do.
He stated this while speaking at a farewell meeting with the outgoing United States Ambassador, Mary Beth Leonard at the State House in Abuja.
President Buhari, in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said he was satisfied with Leonard’s role in the election process as she never meddled or interfered at any point in time.
He expressed satisfaction with the remarkable passion exhibited by Nigerians towards democracy through the choices they made in the Presidential, National Assembly and the subsequent Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections.
President Buhari also stressed that Nigeria’s democracy has truly matured.
