Senator Dickson gives scholarship to undergraduates in Bayelsa West

In a bid to promote education and support his people, the member representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Senator Seriake Dickson, has doled out grant to undergraduates from the district.

The programme captured six hundred beneficiaries across communities in Sagbama and Ekeremor Local government area of the State.

Speaking, Senator Dickson said building infrastructures will be a failure without developing human capacity through education.

According to the former Governor, he pioneered the establishment of the Bayelsa Medical University, African University Toru Orua and other education development projects during his administration, to develop the human mind.

He informed that a scholarship programme for students of his constituency will be unveiled later in the year and selection will be based on merit.

While thanking the selection committee and traditional rulers among others who graced the occasion, Senator Dickson charged beneficiaries to be encouraged by his support.

Students from Niger Delta University, Amassoma, Mr.  Angiama Godswill, Pioneer SUG President University of Africa Toru Orua, Mr. Cameo Tariebi and Federal University Otueke, Tonye Cletus who are beneficiaries thanked the lawmaker.

According to the students, such support programme is important and should be emulated by good spirited Bayelsans.
