Amananaowei of Otuan town in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Chief Christopher Nana-Okoto has condemned in strong terms the visit of some youths under the auspices of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) from the community to the Senatorial road project site in Angiama town.
The Chief who was represented by the Spokesman, Otuan Council of Chiefs, Chief Victor Pere-Bob, cautioned the youths on the action and advised them to always consult and seek advice from relevant stakeholders before taking any action.
IYC Chairman Ogboin Clan, Comrade James-Luis Asari, explained that the visit of the Action Committee Chairman in Otuan with his members to the project site was misinterpreted after due investigation, as they only went there to solicit for work chances as the project get closer to the community.
Also, IYC Ogboin Clan Representative, Comrade Progress Gbefa, said the calls over alleged threat by the IYC Otuan Chapter to stage war against Angiama for land issue came to him as a surprise because IYC do not dabble in such matters, noting that the incident was misinterpreted.
Refuting the report that they stopped workers and threatened to stage war against Angiama, the Action Committee Chairman in Otuan, Comrade Joseph Mathew, who led youths to the project site, explained that their visit was to ascertain the level of work and solicit for work chances.
