Traditional Rulers and other stakeholders of Southern Local Government Area of the state have lauded Governor Douye Diri for the level of work done at the Yenagoa/ Oporoma road under construction.
Chairman of Southern Ijaw Traditional Rulers Council and Amananaowei of Iniwari, Chief Darious Job, said this when he led other members for on the spot assessment of the road project to ascertain the level of work done.
Speaking at Angiama community, Chief Job and Spokesman, Amananaowei of Fierebagha-Ama community, Dr. Stample Okoko, described the project as a dream come true, after being on the drawing board for over sixty years, saying, when completed it will add value to the living standards of the people.
While expressing gratitude to Governor Douye Diri, the duo, used the opportunity to call on traditional rulers and other stakeholders to prevail on their subjects in various communities to ensure a hitch free construction work devoid of harassment and disruption by youths from the area.
At the Aguobiri bridge top, acting Paramount Ruler of Amassoma, Chief Godwin Akedesuo, Amananaowei of Umbu-Ama, Chief A.P Tailo , Amananaowei of Otuan, Chief Christopher Nana-Okoto, represented by the secretary, Chief MacLean Perewari and Amananaowei of Lobia communities ,Chief Mathew Gbehebo , thanked the Governor for the love shown to the people of Southern Ijaw, adding that they were deeply impressed with the level of work done and assured to support all programmes and policies of the present administration.
In their separate remarks, Amananaowei of Ekowe, Chief Andy Tuboro, deputy Amananaowei of Angiama, Chief Nuah Biobele and Amananaowei of Bolou-Aguobiri, Chief Victor Kemelagha, said the road is very important and critical to the wellbeing of the people, stressing that it will not only ease transportation difficulties, but open up the hinterland to connect Yenagoa city and other parts of the state.
Earlier, the council paid an unscheduled visit to Mr. Monday Obolo-Bubou, to appreciate his tireless efforts in ensuring that the construction work is not hindered and also commended the commissioner for Special Duties, Bayelsa Central,Mr. Flint Rex-George as well as the Amananaowei of Angiama Federated Community, Professor Millionaire Abowei, for their efforts towards ensuring a peaceful working environment.
According to them, Mr. Obolo-Bubou, has demonstrated uncommon leadership with quality representation and delivered good governance to the people of Southern Ijaw, assured him of their support and prayed God to grant him sound health and more wisdom as he remains at the forefront in handling the affairs of Southern Ijaw in the present administration.
They also used the occasion to appreciate the commissioner of Youths and sports Development, Dr. Daniel Igali , retired coach and Permanent secretary, Mr. Jackson Bidde, Blessing Oborodudu and Mercy Genesis for making the entire Southern Ijaw LGA proud in the sports industry especially their feat in the field of wrestling.
