Filmmaker, Kemi Adetiba, Minister of women affairs, Pauline Tallen, and the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clem Agba, have emerged winners at the 2023 International Women’s Day Awards Gala in Lagos on Saturday.
The award gala was organised by the diplomatic missions in partnership with the United Nations Women and United Nations Development Programme.
While Adetiba won the award in the media and culture category, Tallen was honoured with a lifetime achievement award for her advocacy for the inclusion of women and girls in governance.
Agba won in the ‘He for she’ champion category, beating activist, Jake Epelle and businessman, Tony Elumelu.
Addressing women after receiving the award,, Agba said, “Once you put a woman in a leadership position, you can never go wrong. Nigerian women, you are good, we need you for the development of Nigeria.”
Tallen who hailed the collaboration and support of the female diplomats in Nigeria said, “The world will only be a better place if women and men work together. Anybody that is against having more women at the decision table and in national development is fighting against the will of God.”
