Dethroned Paramount ruler in Southern Ijaw, Bayelsa State finally speaks.

The Paramount Ruler of Igbomotoru Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Chief Aseimieghen Ayibaikie Ofongo, says his attention has been drawn to a release aired on some Yenagoa-based radio stations, suggesting that he has been dethroned.

The Paramount ruler cautioned rumor peddlers that only persons with dangerous weapons with the intent of maiming and intimidating law abiding citizens can contemplate and sponsor such falsehood against an occupant of a gazzetted Stool.

Speaking to journalists after the visit, Rear Admiral Hassan denied any involvement of his men in the alleged invasion, dehumanization or maltreatment of citizens in the community.

The JTF Commander had further explained that the mandate of the outfit was to protect oil and gas infrastructure and prevent sea robbery, crude oil theft and other forms of criminality within the joint task operation.

He said attempts to politicize its operations were unfortunate and maliciously aimed at smearing the image of the military in order to perpetuate criminality.

According to Chief Aseimieghen, said a recognized, classified and gazetted Amananawei can only be removed by Government established legal¬† procedures and expressed sadness that some individuals who didn’t mean well for the people expect Chiefs to support their nefarious activities in exchange for patronage or financial inducement.

He said indigenes and non indigenes alike of igbomotoru community have now known peace, going about their normal business without fear since the arrival of the military in the community stressing that Igbomotoru is no longer a sanctuary for criminals.
