Vote Counting Ongoing in Equatorial Guinea Election

Vote counting is under way in Equatorial Guinea, an election where the world’s longest-serving president is seeking re-election to extend his forty three years in office.

President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, who is now eighty, has banned all opposition parties except for one.

Equatorial Guinea does not have close elections.

The president usually wins with at least ninety three per cent of votes and that is widely predicted to happen again.
