WHO warns of risk of cholera outbreak in African countries

South African health authorities have announced the country’s first cholera death in more than a decade.

Cholera is not endemic in South Africa, which has since early February recorded 5 cases.

The first  2 of those have been imported from Malawi which is struggling under its deadliest cholera outbreak.

World Health Organization chief, Tedros Ghebreyesus said as at two weeks ago, there have been 23 countries experiencing cholera outbreaks, with a further 20 nations that share land borders with them at risk.
